NYC Elopement at the Metropolitan Museum by Loreto Caceres Photoraphy

One of our favorite real weddings, featured in the winter 2012 issue is quite contrary to what you’d expect for a fusion wedding.  In fact, this modern day couple proves that defying expectations and staying true to one’s heart, not only makes for an amazing wedding story, it also bears fruit to  memorable photography.  And what better setting to marry the these two results than the big apple?

Nothing says city chic like a Manhattan elopement:  From the iconic stone steps of New York’s Upper East side’s Metropolitan Museum, to the electrifying tempo of Midtown’s Timesqaure.  For today’s couple, the decision to opt out of a traditional wedding event, let to the ultimate elopement with style, stilettos…and street hotdog vendors.

Setting: Manhattan, New York

Heroine/ Hero: Polish bride – Magdalena and her Jamaican Beau – Kevin

Photography: Loreto Caceres

“One afternoon, as we labored over our invitations,” Magdalena explained, “he [Kevin] leaned to me and said: let’s take your dress to New York and elope.  Those words simplified what a wedding truly meant to us and couldn’t look back.”

A moment of J’adorable silence, if you please, for Magdalena’s headpiece by Jannie Baltzer.  This handmade French veiling, sprinkled with chiffon flowers and preciosa pearls is called  ”Ellette.”  I call it: Fabulous…and just the right accessory for a cosmopolitan bride.

I adore these photos! Cosmopolitan bride is the right description. Gorgeous! I love the shot of them sitting on the steps of the museum, and the last shot… it looks like a dance floor. Which, I suspect, given all the people bustling around in different directions, it probably feels like you are “dancing” your way round if you’re on your way somewhere.

I couldn’t agree with you more, Kristin. I love how part of what makes this so magical is the looks and reactions from bystanders. Classic!

I love this one, especially the pictures on the steps. Without the details and fancy decor of a traditional wedding you can’t help but feel the joy and love they share.
