It’s time to face the music…or in this case, the status update: The Social network is here to stay. With the momentum and critical buzz of flicks with the same name, the heavy role it plays in marketing and political campaigns, and just the fact that over one in five online divorce proceedings site a social network as culprit (but we won’t focus on that fun sponge subject, now will we), I think it’s safe to say that Social Networks have permanently altered the family tree of our generation. Today’s extended family includes uncles, aunts, cousins…and avatars. But it doesn’t have to be a negative reality. Virtual, immersive, pixelated? Yes. But negative? That depends. .
Thousands of couples are finding cute and clever ways to introduce this newest member of the modern family into their wedding home. From dainty jewelry, to desserts and stationery, here are just a few ways to Tweet your love unto your spouse’s facebook page…while skyping your vows, lol.

If gemstones and crafted metals aren’t your style exclusively, then indulging in social network-inspired desserts could serve as a more savory alternative. I am absolutely in love with the facebook and twitter sugar cookies by Amanda of I am Baker, one of my favorite reads for confectionery inspiration.

As if to poke fun, a sort of irony in humor by providing paper on which to write (not type, tap or right click)…here are a few social network-inspired paper ideas: awesome gift ideas for the quirky personality type.

The conventional handwritten note, vow or “moment-before” is rapidly getting replaced by a more text-friendly approach. Only time will tell whether pencils and ink pens will become archaic collectibles one day, a predicament that I certainly hope never comes to pass.

No matter whether you scribble or text, doodle or click, short hand or type…it’s not the caliber of your utensil that matters, it’s the quality of your commitment to one another. Just be sure to update your relationship status after the wedding:-)

These were clever finds
Great post. Isn’t it crazy how big of a role technology plays these days!
@Meg….I totally agree. Crazy, yet normal. Consider this: Kids graduation this year from high school were born AFTER pulp fiction. Not that pulp fiction defines milestones in “technology”, but rather that their youth unlike mine will be defined by itunes, iphones and text vocabulary. Rotary phones? What’s That?
