Egyptian American Tale by Saad Syed

Today, I’m super excited to announce WEDDING NOUVEAU’s partnership with the amazing team over at MyWedding.com, an all inclusive wedding planning guide and resource for inspiration, style and unique ideas for your dream day.  I will be dishing on lots of inspirational finds for today’s  intercultural bride, so be sure to look me up when you head over there.

To kick off my first date as a guest blogger on Delightfully Engaged, the newly revamped blog from MyWedding.com, I decided to spice up the conversation with an inspirational theme:

Something southern, Something new, Something Egyptian …and yet still blue.

After all the positive email feedback that I received from the Hijab Glam dream palette, I knew I had tapped into an area often overlooked by mainstream wedding publications: The marriage of Muslim faith and Modern style.

Setting: Raleigh, NC

Heroine & Hero: Egyptian American bride – Sarah & her beau – Ahmd

Signature colors: Blue, White, Silver

Scene #1: ANTICIPATION

Pictures were worth a thousand words…and a thousand breathes of anticipation, as Ahmd awaited the priceless reveal of his bride before the ceremony.

Scene #2: PORTRAITS, PASTRIES & VEILS…OH MY!

Would you believe that the bride’s beautiful veil and jacket were custom made?  One of the challenges Sarah faced while planning her wedding involved finding the right head scarf style to match her dress.   “I actually used my mothers veil and we found silky white fabric to use to cover my hair.” Sarah said, “it took weeks of trying out different ways of wearing my hair and wrapping the fabric before we finally settled on a way to wear it. We also had to make sure it wouldn’t fall off or come on done. All of these factors made it very difficult. I also had a custom jacket made to match my wedding dress.”

Honestly, one of the first images I saw from this wedding was the one of the bride and her classy entourage in…wait, could it be?  Yes,  Krispy Kreme!  A quick glance, and you’d think it was a pastry boutique in Paris somewhere.  This captured timeless moment is a testament to the “think-fast-and-snap” skills of the husband and wife team – Saad Syed and Mahroo Ahsan of S2S photography.

“For the ones who will be covering their hair, I would encourage them to network with other brides who cover too and look at all the different head wrap styles because everybody’s face/shape looks better in a different style and I got a lot of great tips when looking at other friends’ head covering and veils.”

-Sarah, The Bride-

You know me.  It wouldn’t be a real wedding feature without a little more dish on creative challenges, style choices and the how to’s of bringing  culture to the center stage.

Get the full scoop (in color and culture) from their beautiful ceremony and reception in Part 2. Sarah and Ahmd’s wedding continues over at my guest blog post on MyWedding.com.

Looks like it was a beautiful day! Who did you use as your wedding officiant? ITs getting down to the wire for us and we need to make a decision. Thanks!
