I’ve Taken A Huge Leap

(Above: Alexander McQueen for Vogue via here)

As you know, a few days ago I turned 29 and made a list of things I was determined to check off before my 30th birthday next year.  Well, I’m happy to say that one of the items on the list (a very BIG item) is on it’s way to being checked off.

I’m in Cameroon.  That’s right!  My daughter and I have journeyed through two airlines, three continents and over 24 hours of flying time (not including layover delays, airport security heartaches, time spent in the bathroom cleaning out spit up and refilling bottles, and commute time to the airport in Los Angeles).  And if you’ve ever had the great fortune of traveling internationally with a baby….ON YOUR OWN…then you know what I’m talking about when I say: I’ve taken a huge leap.  Apparently even babies are required to have their cute pink flowery sandals from Target, taken off for security scanning.  Who Knew???

So here we are at home with my family, enjoying the bliss of fresh fruit, skin-enhancing humidity, a buffet of traditions, savory meals and tons of eager hands willing to shower  the baby with love.  We’ll be off to visit my grandfather in a few days, at which point I will officially check off my first item from the list: #8- Ensure that my daughter meet her last surviving great-grand father before it’s too late.

I will keep you posted on our trip, and thank you in advance for any delays in posting.

Thanks for keeping us updated! I’m glad you made it through your long journey safely (if not exactly joyfully… oh airport security) and I hope your time with your family is well spent.

Maybe you might even be inspired by your new surroundings.
