As promised, Brooke and Paul’s wedding day (photographed by Janel Conlan of Focus Photography Inc continues from the anticipation of meeting each other before saying “I Do”, to actually saying it…at the wedding ceremony.
Scene #3: BURNT ORANGE & PERIDOT DETAILS
Seven 4 One is a luxury boutique hotel (and eco-conscious venue) in Laguna Beach. It was there that Brooke and Paul chose to host their 72 guests for an afternoon and evening of intimate expressions, gourmet food, infectious music and a post-wedding slumber party for close family and friends.
Every single design detail was flawless. It took the skills and expertise of Candice Maloney Bradley of De-Lovely Events to coordinate and execute her bride’s vision. “I had my hands in the creation of every detail from start to finish,” Brooke confessed about her sense of perfection, “but as I am also working on my doctorate I needed someone to manage paperwork and suggest vendors. ‘Utterly amazing Candace’ excelled at all these tasks, and relinquished creative control to me, while offering sound suggestions.”
Like Brooke, many brides today are very empowered and proactive about their wedding details & logistics which I think is a huge reflection of our D.I.Y sensibilities. There’s nothing wrong with knowing what you want and it’s always an added bonus when you have a coordinator who gets you…and gets it!
Scene #4: AN ECO-FRESH THROW DOWN

Do I even need to comment on how gorgeous the reception is? High ceilings, minimalist furniture, bright smiles, vibrant splashes of color against clean and modern backdrops….I could go on.
It took a lot for Paul to not handle the musical selection at his own wedding, as he is a DJ by profession. Alas, just a few turns at the table will suffice.
When asked how style and heritage were reflected in the wedding, here’s how the bride responded:
“My identity as an artist and designer was reflected in the eco/modern aesthetic of our wedding, whereas Paul’s identity as a musician was reflected in the party atmosphere of our reception.” Brooke replied, “My interests as a psychologist/art therapist were also present via the choices for our ceremony and guest participation. We had an art guest book on our ocean side patio, and guests participated by making 2 and/or 3D art pieces. I also hand made our guest book utilizing scrap materials from collaborative projects with my friends in art school. Every choice had a specific etiology that was highly significant to us. As all our grandparents where either deceased or unable to attend due to illness and/or travel there was a memorial chair kept in our audience in their honor. Our officiant addressed all those who could not be there in person, but where present in spirit. Finally, in lieu of gifts we donated in honor of the deceased to the American Heart Association.”

“Don’t compromise yourself. Vision board before you turn to the bridal magazines or blogs. Nothing is more important than honoring yourself as a couple. You’re unique… own it!”
