Japanese American Fusion in San Francisco

Hello everyone, and welcome to the final Friday of April.  It’s been a great ride- rolling out the new nouveau look, guest blogging on other sites and of course, showcasing the best of the best in wedding style.  This week has been filled with lots of emails of support and encouragement.  I love hearing from you, and am reassured to know that others out there value the importance of celebrating interracial unions and multi-ethnic wedding styles as much as I do.

You won’t believe what we have in store today.  It wouldn’t be Fri-Style Friday without a little “Shut-up-that’s-Hot!” feature.  First you’ll see the wedding, then, you’ll see how the dress was made.  So let’s dive right in, like a fashionista at a Zara Outlet:

Somewhere “between a posed smile and giddy grin” is where world traveled photojournalist – Alison Bank finds true beauty.  Her shutters capture the delicate balance of tranquility and euphoria, one of the many reasons why having her as part of the Vendor J’Adore list was as inevitable as a pride needing prejudice.

The Palette

The Couture

Meet blushing American bride- Camille who’s busy life comes to a cinematic pause for a day, as she ties the knot to her stylish Japanese/American groom – Takeshi.  They chose to get married amidst a very intimate group of family and friends at San Francisco’s City Hall.

Camille’s fabulous dress was custom made…that’s right, custom made by theatre costume designer and stylist – Jessica Hinel.  As a theatre artist myself, I deeply understand the value of a costume designer who can tailor a look that supports your body and character, 100%.  But when that level of finesse is brought to your wedding day, well consider yourself “Hooked Up.”

The City Hall Wedding

Just a little side trivia: San Francisco City Hall has hosted thousands of civil unions, including that of baseball great and Italian/American slugger – Joe DiMaggio to screen icon – Marilyn  Monroe.

Following the ceremony was a laid back reception that Alison (the photographer) attended.  Out of courtesy to the couple (who are also her close friends), she was expected to enjoy not document the event – a tragedy for us, because I’m sure it was absolutely stunning.  Congratulations, C & T!  Thank you so much, Alison, for sharing these photos…

..But wait, THERE’S MORE! Because I was absolutely obsessed with Camille’s custom wedding dress, I decided to track down the designer, and boy are you in for a treat.

Coming up later today…step by step details on how to laser cut your very own design unto your wedding dress.  I can’t wait.
