{Fashion Nouveau} Strut in Kimono

If there’s one thing I love about Fri-Style Fridays, it’s that I get to share some truly unique and exciting drool-worthy inspirations for the weekend.

I’ve talked about traditional kimono bridal couture and elaborate dream palettes before on WN, but I got to thinking that not everyone has the money, time or patience to adorn a full kimono for their wedding.  Yes, there are westernized alternatives, but I wanted to find inspiration for the bride-inista who prefers a little more subtlety.

These simple and provocative kimono shoes by Hetty Rose, serenade the feet like the ultimate love letter.  By using vintage fabrics, each shoe is custom made to fit your feet to give you the strut that only you can own.

Each shoe has a name, a story and is an individual labor of love.  I’d be curious to see these designs in other cultural-inspired prints such as batik or paisley.  You can’t have uniquely stylish shoes without a little hand candy to match.  Here are some clutch purses inspired by the same vein (also perfect as bridesmaid accessories and/or gifts):

With these ideas, you could stick to the classic white dress, but give a kimono-infused wink to your event.

Don’t forget to check out Jane and Daisuke’s traditional Japanese Wedding or  African/Japanese fusion kimonos by WAFRICA.

The shoes are absolutely stunning wow! I really love the pattern and the cut on the front tie heels. What a unique design.

The site also looks great, Fri! I’ve been away awhile and just noticed your new layout :)
