Unless you’ve been marooned to a remote cavern, you’re aware of the devastation that has plagued Haiti, leaving thousands of families displaced, deceased and injured. Yet, despite it all, we still find stories of hope and promise in the chants of the people. There are still survival stories, 8 days after the earthquake.
Earlier this week a particular news story had me floored. Neurosurgeon, CNN correspondent, Professor and one-time nominee for Surgeon General – Dr. Sanjay Gupta, examined a 15-day old baby from head injuries, and it was captured live. The baby’s mother had perished in the quake and the father distraught. Now, there have been many more stories told, but that particular segment had me in tears, as I held my now, 6-week old daughter in my arms.
Here’s to Dr. Sanjay Gupta and all the other doctors, nurses, firemen, police officers, missionaries and volunteers doing what they can on the ground in Haiti.

Also, this Friday there’ll be a star studded two-hour telethon called HOPE FOR HAITI NOW, broadcast worldwide and commercial-free
