There’s something quite fulfilling about the anticipation of all the positive things in store for a week. Mondays evoke the spirit of new beginnings, a clean slate, and for Wedding Nouveau, yet another inspirational wedding that incorporates unique and bold style.
Today’s Monday inspiration is brought to us by the amazing – Wendy MacLaurin Richardson, San Francisco based photo journalist who’s pixelated stories of brides, grooms, proud in-laws, and event details, can either be translated into a charming fairytale or a morning pick-me up. She weaves each photograph into an honest and soothing blanket that couples are able to retreat to again and again, to discover moments totally new. Now, that’ s the power of great candid photography. Wendy MacLaurin Richardson…a definite member of the Vendor J’Adore List.
Setting: September Warmth in a luscious green garden (Berkeley, CA.)
Heroine & Hero: Sulakshana – a blushing bride of Indian descent and her Finnish Groom, Niko.
SCENE 1: Wine, Henna & A Beautiful Bride

SCENE 2: A Heartfelt ” I Do”

(Above: Ceremony at Brazil Room)
Sometimes, the pictures stand on their own in providing an evocative narrative. Sulakshana went with a warm autumnal palette that consisted of chocolate brown, apple green and burgundy. A similar palette to the warm fall harvest board done last week, I might add. During the ceremony, that involved live music as well as the bride meeting the groom before hand, Niko’s brother did one of the readings in Finnish.
SCENE 3: A Tapestry is only as great as it’s smallest detail.

(Above: Event Design by Michelle Barrionuevo-Mazzini; Catering by Melons; Cake by Glass Slipper Gourmet; Reception location at Brazil Room)
When asked how style and heritage was reflected in the wedding, Sulakshana literally cracked me up. “Our cake was chocolate with white piping” she said ” playing on the fun fact that I am brown and he is white:-)” A very different turn from most bride’s approach, which I just love. There’s nothing wrong with a sense of humor when balancing what could be a very stressful planning process. Keep in mind that the bride and groom had an equally detailed and luscious traditional Indian wedding before hand, which Wedding Nouveau plans on showing you as well. For now, we get to melt over their soothing palette, pomegranate accents, and romantic charm.

Congrats to S & N on their lovely affair in Berkeley. And to Wendy, I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Spicyhugs,
Fri
