Fri-Style Friday is off to an inspirational start. I was so excited to wake up to the announcement of Obama’s award of the Nobel Peace Prize. Woohoo!
Today’s wedding dream palette inspiration comes from Bedouin Culture, an over 1500-year old middle eastern culture, primarily rooted in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. This evocative way of nomadic life conjures up stories of shifting sands, flowing robes, dessert tents, exotic rugs and herds of camel.
But let’s be honest, in this day and age, who’s got a camel hanging around, or a sahara desert in their backyard (unless you’re fortunate enough to reside in north Africa or the neighboring sub-Saharan)? For the Bride who’s dedicated to infusing Bedouin Style into her 21st century wedding, what’s a gal to do?
Inspiration: Desert Nomads

Challenge? How do you design a modern Arabic/ Bedouin-inspired wedding without renting the Sahara.
How you do it? 1) Pick a solid color scheme and stick to it. 2) Find accents that speak to Bedouin culture – Pillows, rugs, family style dining, etc. 3) Use light/flowing fabrics – chiffon, cotton, tents, veils, lace. 4) Mix simple big ticket items with intricate detailing (Midde eastern-inspired gems & make up.) 5) If you can’t afford a destination wedding, you can still accomplish the same nomadic look with an isolated tent set up, or a local national park, or outdoor urban loft space. 6) Entertainment can include live belly dancing. 7) Instead of a sit-down dinner, incorporate tapas-style Middle Eastern menu and desserts.
