In the spirit of Halloween, this week will be dedicated to halloween-inspired wedding boards.  However, unlike the usual black and orange motif, I think we can have more fun scouring the globe for cultural/ geographic inspiration, with a spooky overlay.  Halloween weddings don’t always have to be candy-corn themed with costumes and hanging ghosts.

As the second most commercially lucrative season (after Christmas), it’s no surprise that this event has become a global celebration.  So, dream outside the box…and beyond your comfort zone.

Challenge: How do you create a Halloween inspired wedding that’s a little less candy corn and a little more winter eerie–land?

How you can do it: 1) Find all the elements of winter wonderland weddings that you’d like, and pick the opposite of that . 2) Black and Sanguiine Red are goth colors, but Silver and white gives it a touch of class and charm  3) Ideally, if your wedding is in the heart of winter, then your environmental decor is already set.  4) Let the wintery landscape of Transylvania be a guide not a blueprint.  For example: Use of heavy stones, melted wax candles, dark vintage books as peppered details.  There’s no need to recreate Dracula’s castle.   5) Candles and Mirrors will always bring an eerie yet charming glow to the space.  The mirrors can be large and gothic or shattered and playful (like in disco balls).  6) Use Vintage paper instead of cloth. 7) Dark lace is not only stylish, it’s also versatile.  It can be used as fashion accessories, plate settings, floral accents, etc.
