In order to write this prologue, I must give a spicy blogger “shout out” to Michael & Haley Shandro of Shandro Photo for sharing the visual context to this lovable story. It’s the wedding tale of Rena and Uche, a canadian couple that recently tied the knot under the keen and delicate gaze of the Shandro lens. A fusion wedding in true form, Rena and Uche decided to have an intimate event that merged their backgrounds of faith, style and custom.
Scene 1…
…Begins on a beautiful Alberta day, in Calgary. Our two leading characters: a heroine by the name of Rena, born and raised in Calgary to Jewish parents, prepares for the scene we’ve all been waiting for…her wedding to the hero: Uche, also born and raised in Calgary, to Nigerian Parents.
What got me the most excited about sharing their wedding, was their use of color in a way that’s elegant, simple, and yet dares to offer a wink and a smile…

The cute little gift boxes for out-of-town guests were designed and created by the Bride’s mother.
The line up for this intimate ceremony is set…

…How much do I love the outdoor shots below, before their Lake front reception?
During the reception, the groom’s family performed a Kola nut offering ceremony, a symbolic practice in Nigerian weddings. (For a little more backstory on the symbolism behind Kola Nut offerings, read the post from earlier today.)

…and they lived Happily Ever After! Congratulations R & U.
