{Real Wedding} An English, Egyptian & Zulu Wedding.

There’s something about vintage inspired lace gowns, iconic landmarks and cobble-stone european streets that just makes me melt.  Living in Los Angeles, I don’t often get to lose myself in a romantic venue filled with grand pianos, poetic overcast skies and historic chapels…but thanks to Marianne Taylor, I can travel through her portfolio of stunning images.

Marianne’s work wields emotions like the perfect sonnet on a cool summer day (my fav being sonnet# 145 by Shakespeare “aka” Billy Shakes).  Anyway, I’m truly excited to share the wedding of Sarah, a British bride of South African and Egyptian descent, and Dan (English, through and through).

STORY: This is the tale of how a  Zulu-Gyptian Goddess found true love on Abbey Road…Enjoy!

When asked how heritage and style were reflected in her wedding, Sarah was candid in her response.  “I really love bright colors: orange and yellow, with brown”  Says Sarah, “I wanted to reflect my African heritage and through choosing bright colors for the theme of the wedding and quite exotic looking flowers, I felt that this created a link to Africa.”   Her selection of vibrant calla lillies and sunflowers was the perfect complement to her delicate, vintage gown.  I also love that the groom’s choice of boutonnieres was equally colorful.

SCENE 2:  I’ll meet you at the Chapel.

SCENE 3: Riding Off in Abbey Road Style

After the ceremony, the bridal party and guests were escorted to the reception in true London style.  Who wouldn’t  love an iconic two-tier bus to frame the setting?  While aboard, the guests were also entertained by traditional London/Cockney music.

Hope you liked the shot from inside the bridal vehicle, showing the iconic abbey road crossing…GO BEATLES!!!….aaaaND We’re Back:

SCENE 4: A Landmark Reception

Sarah and Dan chose London’s Landmark Hotel ballroom to host their guest list of over 105 friends and family.  The favors for the female wedding guests were African Zulu love letters, representing love and friendship. Sarah’s incorporation of South African elements was not only personal, but philanthropic, as proceeds from her purchase supported local African communities through Afriskills Trading. (Also a very attractive option for gift registries)

For the male wedding favors, Dan’s English heritage was showcased by the provision of key rings that displayed a picture of a Teesside, MiddleBrough landmark: the Transporter Bridge.

The reception tables were adorned with subtle Egyptian flair.  By tracing current traditions back to ancient Egypt, the bride typed up each tradition onto papyrus paper, giving little accounts of things we do today in weddings that the pharaohs did back then.

A stunning execution of well thought out ideas, history and heritage.  What more could Wedding Nouveau ask for?
