If you got a glimpse of the Emmy’s red carpet this season, I’m sure you were impressed by all the usual designers. This year’s Fashion week in the big apple, however, offered a fresh approach to the red carpet, as well as new and exciting promises for the wedding aisle. And it’s all thanks to ARISE, one of my new favorite magazines, that is focused on showcasing trend setters and visionaries in African fashion & culture.
On September 11, in the belly of NY’s Fashion week, the sequel to the first successful show took place.
Arise: The Promise of Africa, a fashion initiative, showcased the talents of four African designers to take serious note of. They are Nigerian designers – Lisa Folawiyo of Jewel by Lisa & Folake Folarin-Coker of Tiffany Amber, Eric Raisina from Madagascar and South African designer – David Tlale. Here’s a glimpse of some of their amazing designs, along with other notable African designers from the previous ARISE show:

Each one of these would make for a unique and stunning fashion choice for your wedding: A sensual nod to traditional fabrics and a rendez-vous with modern style.
