I think today’s article should really be called Divas in Dirndls…
I have Nadine, over at Creative Lounge to thank for today’s post. Not only do I get tons of inspiration from her work , this Germany-based designer is a fellow “foamer” for art, fashion, and all things creative.
In a recent post, she brought my attention to the new face of Dirndls, which if you aren’t familiar with, is the traditional attire in Bavarian (or South East German) Culture. I always assumed that Dirndls were for themed events or Octoberfest, but clearly I’ve been wrong.
I’ll admit that I was pleasantly shocked by the wide range of really exciting fashion pieces recognizable today, inspired by the Dirndl…and even more excited about the designers who are daring to bring this unique style to mainstream runways:

(Top Row L to R: Dress #1 – Ophelia Blaimer; Dress#2 – Silk and Pearls; Dress#3 – Daniel Felder; Dress#4 – Alpenmaedel. Bottom Row L to R: Dress#1 – Alpenmaedel; Dress#2 – Daniel Felder; Dress#3 – Philosophy; Dress#4 – Silk and Pearls)
So, of course you know I won’t stop here. These Dirndls provoked many ideas, thoughts and questions. The main one being: Can you incorporate Dirndls into a modern wedding, and still be magazine worthy? I say: HELL YEAH!
Dream Palette Inspirations to come later today.
